News from Noir Nation’s Publisher

With the publication of Baudelaire’s Fleurs du Mal in its original French, VegaWire is now a trilingual publisher. (Its first non-English language book was Jose Marti’s Versos Sencillos.)

Published under the VegaTrope imprint, the Baudelaire book has an insightful introduction by Jean Charbonneau, who is heading up Bare Knuckles Press France. Jean is also in the process of translating Noir Nation No. 1 into French.

It may seem odd for a digital publisher to publish poetry — which many don’t think will ever recover even minimal production costs — but poetry is what drives the soul of language to its ecstatic heights and most anguished lows. It is where we begin and where we end. Vast treasures lie all along the way.

Fleurs du Mal is available on Amazon for $2.99. So is the English edition, Flowers of Evil.
